| Dan and his firm Daniel Macdonald AIA Architects, Inc. bring enormous bandwidth to the Anza team. As an alliance team member, Dan's office complements Anza's strategic branding point of view with extensive architectural design and program implementation experience in the retail, hospitality, and winery sectors.
The firm was established in 1991, and the DMAIA staff is registered to practice architecture in over 20 states. The firm has worked for well-known national and regional retailers such as Walgreen's, Circuit City Stores, Gymboree, Williams-Sonoma, Boudin Bakery, Borders Books and Music, Peet's Coffee & Tea, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, and many more. The office is a member of the U.S. Green Building Council, and retains a LEED Accredited Professional project architect on staff. A native San Franciscan, Dan received a Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from University of California at Berkeley in 1977, and a Master of Architecture degree from Cal Berkeley in 1979 after serving as an aircrewman with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He has been involved with architectural projects throughout the United States since 1977. Dan is extensively involved with community service and currently sits on the General Plan Update Steering Committee and Permit Streamlining Committee for the City of Novato, CA.
